Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy S25 Edge during a live event streamed on their YouTube channel. The company highlighted significant advancements in camera technology, heat management systems, and battery efficiency, all packed into a sleek device measuring just 5.88mm in thickness and weighing 163 grams. The smartphone is powered by a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, featuring an Octa-Core processor with speeds of 4.47GHz and 3.5GHz.
Display and Camera Features
The Galaxy S25 Edge boasts a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, offering a refresh rate of 120Hz and a color depth of 16 million. Samsung emphasized the engineering efforts required to create a new camera housing that accommodates flagship-level cameras within a compact design. The rear camera setup includes a 200MP primary sensor paired with a 12MP secondary sensor, providing 2X optical zoom and digital zoom capabilities up to 10X. For selfies, a 12MP front-facing camera is included.
Storage and Connectivity Options
This model will feature 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, with rumors of a 256GB variant, although only the 512GB option is currently available for pre-order. The device supports dual SIM functionality and includes USB Type-C connectivity along with Bluetooth V5.4 for enhanced audio streaming.
Samsung's Slimmest Device Yet
Samsung claims that the Galaxy S25 Edge is their slimmest smartphone to date. The company has worked diligently to create a titanium frame that integrates top-tier features without compromising usability. According to Samsung, this phone exemplifies a perfect harmony of aesthetics and functionality. Additionally, a partnership with Google has introduced a range of new AI features aimed at improving user experience. To enhance durability, the device is equipped with Corning's new ceramic glass 2.
Battery Concerns
The Galaxy S25 Edge is equipped with a 3900mAh battery, but details regarding the charging technology have not been disclosed. Reports suggest that it will support only 25W wired charging. Given the current market trends with competitors offering higher battery capacities, questions arise about whether this battery will last a full day, especially considering the power demands of the AMOLED display and Snapdragon Elite 8 chipset. The phone is available for pre-order at a price of $1,099 in international markets, with details on Indian pricing expected to be announced soon.
